CANDIDATES
Board of Directors
I’ve been in the industry since I was 18 and a Script Supervisor since 1990 as well as a Board member the last 3 years. Logic, fairness, respect, creativity and a bit of humor is what I’m all about.
I’ve learned the most valuable lesson in leadership, respect. It’s the key foundation on which to build
upon for a harmonious Local.
As President, I’ll be focused on formulating a game plan for
our brothers and sisters who still do not have basic rates. Let me be your advocate, to give voice to
your needs.
Positive change doesn’t just happen. Let’s build solidarity
in our Local. When we stand as “one”,
we can accomplish much. It’s time to infuse positive change in our Local by voting
these candidates onto the Board who are committed to Moving Our Local Forward
with new ideas and new solutions.
Thank you for taking the time to make an informed
decision. It’s shows your commitment to
our Local.
My name is Doug Boney and I am running to be Vice-President and
a Delegate of IA Local 871. I became quite active as soon as I joined the
Local in 2010. I worked on the Constitution and Bylaws Committee and then
joined the Diversity Committee, eventually becoming the chair. I have
been on the Negotiations Committee during two cycles of negotiations and serve
as chairperson for the newly formed Young Workers Committee. I have
served as a a member of the Board of Directors and as a Delegate since 2013. I
believe that we, as a Local, are looking towards the future for the prosperity
of all of our crafts and I want to continue to work on your behalf to make this
happen. I also believe that we have a great slate of candidates that
represents the many facets of our Local. Your vote for us will be greatly
appreciated.
As a member of the Board the last three years and as Chair of
both the Building and Renovations Committees, I’ve been directly involved with
the positive changes the Local has undergone. As a first term Delegate my knowledge and understanding of our union has grown tremendously.
It’s been an exciting time, during which our Business Representative has
started to affect real change for our members, and members in turn are becoming
increasingly unified, forward looking, and active in the Local. Getting to know the wide range of people and
crafts we represent has been a great experience. I welcome
the opportunity to continue developing as an advocate and working on behalf of all the members of Local 871 on this Board of Directors and as a Delegate.

As a production accountant on features, television shows and music videos, overseeing and managing the budgets of productions, my job is to know where and how every cent is spent. More than twenty years of fiscal oversight of expenditures and cost containment are the background, skills, experience and knowledge I bring to the office of Treasurer.
When Local 717 was folded into 871, I was uncertain how the
new arrangement would play out regarding long and short term benefits for
production accountants. Since then I have become convinced that having
production accountants represented by Local 871 is the pathway to growth. Last year I traveled to
Sacramento as part of the IATSE effort to ratify the new tax incentive program.
Earlier this year I was on 871’s team during the contract negotiations with
AMPTP.

I’m
Lisa McNeil, a Script Supervisor who's been with Local 871 since 2000. I became active with the Local about 10
years ago to make a difference. It is a
learning process! I will soon be
completing my first 3 year term as a Board Director and Chair of the Education
Committee. I would like to continue
seeing the local move forward and continue my work with the members to improve
working conditions for all of us, and promote upgrading our skills with more
educational programs and seminars.
That’s me! Pamela
Brown, campaigning in Sacramento to pass AB1839. I was proud to represent 871, and I’d be honored to serve you
again on the Board of Directors.
When AB1839 was signed into law, it renewed my belief that
when people act in the spirit of “many in body, one in mind” the impossible can
become possible. My experience inspired
me to continue to fight for issues that affect all of us as members of 871. In the past, I would think to myself what’s
the point of getting involved when nothing’s going to change. Well… I don’t believe that now.
Positive change is happening in our local. I’ve experienced it. And more CAN be accomplished. Together we can make the impossible happen. Take a step forward. Take a step for change. Please vote for me. With your help, I’ll work to keep the local
moving forward.
Hello fellow 871 sisters and brothers, my name is Miranda Cristofani. I’ve been a working Art Department Coordinator for 11 years.
I believe in addressing issues, supporting our crafts and
moving our local forward for the betterment of all 871 members. I strive to act as a representative for all
members within my craft across TV, Film and Commercials, as well as be an
advocate for any member, bringing your issues and concerns to the table.
I’m a good listener, a logical thinker and strong believer
in unity and solidarity within diversity.
Please consider me for the BOD and Delegate this year. Thanks.
Great progress has been occurring in our union. I am running for Board of Directors to help continue Moving Our Local Forward. I support positive growth for all members and all crafts under our local. Thank you for you consideration.
I’ve
been a Production Coordinator/Local member for 14 years. During 30 years in
the biz, I’ve worked many positions on set including 1st Assistant Director and
have worked small and large budget shows for TV and Film. Entering the election
to be a Board Member and Delegate comes from feeling encouraged with the
positive direction our Local is heading. Friends and esteemed colleagues have
inspired me to run to keep a positive future and respectful outlook for
us. We now have solid representation
and older and newer members can feel encouraged with the direction of our
Local. I represented our Local in Sacramento for the tax incentive issue and
feel I can continue representing you positively and respectfully. With your vote, I will bring some wisdom and
fairness in tackling the issues within our Local and the business in
general. Thanks!
I'm
Carol Kiefer, a working Art Department Coordinator, and I'm running for both a
seat on the Board of Directors and as a Delegate.
I
helped organize the ADCs in 1993 and I have a long history of fighting for our
rights. I served on the Board when we were in 717 and again when
that Local merged with 871. I am completing my third term as a Board
member this year. We’ve seen progress for our craft but there is
much more to be done. I’d like to be a catalyst for change and continue
to be a voice for my fellow ADCs.
I
like being a Delegate and I’m running for a third term in that
capacity. I always learn something new at the District meetings that
makes me a better Union representative and gives me renewed energy and focus to
do the work needed for change.
Being
a Local 871 Delegate has been extremely rewarding. I would appreciate having the opportunity to use the skills I’ve
developed in that capacity as a member of our Board of Directors, incorporating
our longstanding traditions with new ideas to benefit and strengthen the Local.
I joined Local 871 in 2004 which was the best
decision I ever made, as it gave me the professional chance I needed
to have a successful script supervising career. I would welcome
the opportunity to pay it forward by serving the Local as a member of the
Board of Directors.
I have a BA in Economics (CSUN) and worked at Warner/Chappell Music
for 15 years. I transitioned to script supervising after 17 years of
working in the music industry. I am very grateful to be a member of Local 871
and would be honored to serve on the Board of Directors. When our 871
representatives invited me to participate in rallying for AB1839 in Sacramento,
I saw the energy of our local members coming together for this common
goal. With this same enthusiasm, I will
dutifully carry forward and increase the momentum of our predecessors by
continuing to unite our fellow brothers and sisters, placing an emphasis on
education, health/pension benefits, as well as charitable and community
involvement.

My name is Dee Schuka. I have been a working Post Accountant over 10 years, first as a member of Local 161 in New York and now a five year member of Local 871. Serving on the Board of 871 would give me the opportunity to represent my fellow accountants while also coming together with members of the other crafts to move our local forward and achieve common goals. Please consider me for the Board of Directors of Local 871 in the upcoming election.
The time is right for a Teleprompter Operator to become involved and be an advocate for the small but mighty crafts of the Local. It’s time to move our Local forward with new insight and ideas. Please give me the opportunity to make a difference for all our members on the Board of Directors and as a Delegate. Thanks!
